No profit is made by the clinic from DUTCH testing
At Femme Nutrition Australia, DUTCH Testing may be recommended when a deeper look at hormone patterns is needed. If you have been searching for answers and have made it to this page, you may already know how confusing it can feel to sort through symptoms, mixed advice and endless online information.
If you have questions about DUTCH testing or you are unsure whether it is the right fit for you, you are welcome to call me and talk it through. You will be speaking with a real person who understands how overwhelming it can feel to keep searching for answers and still feel unsure about the next step.
My role is not just to help arrange testing. It is to help you understand whether DUTCH testing is appropriate for your situation, what the results may show and how those findings fit into a broader personalised nutrition and lifestyle approach.
What is DUTCH Testing?
DUTCH testing is an at home functional hormone test that uses dried urine samples to assess hormone patterns and metabolites. Depending on the panel, it may also include saliva testing for the cortisol awakening response.
It can provide insight into:
oestrogen patterns and metabolism
progesterone and progesterone metabolites
testosterone and androgen patterns
cortisol and cortisone patterns
DHEA and other adrenal related markers
selected additional markers depending on the panel ordered
Rather than looking at a single hormone in isolation, DUTCH testing helps build a broader picture of hormone production, metabolism and clearance.
Who may benefit from DUTCH Testing?
DUTCH testing may be appropriate for women experiencing symptoms or concerns such as:
suspected hormone related symptoms during perimenopause
irregular periods
hot flushes
mood imbalances
skin changes
weight changes
sleep disruption
fatigue
stress related concerns
It may also be useful when a more detailed view of hormone patterns is needed as part of a personalised clinical nutrition assessment.
Please note that testing during perimenopause can be more complex because hormone levels naturally fluctuate. Even so, DUTCH testing can still offer useful insight, particularly around cortisol patterns, hormone metabolism and the broader hormonal picture.
How Does It Work?
Initial Consultation
We discuss your symptoms, health history, current concerns and whether DUTCH testing is the right fit for you.
At home sample collection
You collect samples at home using the instructions provided. Most DUTCH panels involve multiple dried urine samples collected across a 24 hour period. Some panels also include saliva samples.
Laboratory analysis
Your samples are analysed by Precision Analytical using DUTCH specific laboratory reference ranges for the panel ordered.
Results interpretation
I interpret your report in the context of your symptoms, reproductive stage, health history, medications, supplements, stress load, sleep and lifestyle factors.
Personalised support
Your results are used to guide personalised nutrition plans, balanced lifestyle guidance and supportive next steps. Follow up consultations are recommended so your plan can be reviewed and adjusted over time.
If you have been searching for answers, you are in the right place
If you have landed on this page after a lot of Googling, comparing and second-guessing, I completely understand. Searching for the right DUTCH test or the right practitioner can feel overwhelming, especially when you are already trying to make sense of symptoms and mixed advice.
If you are based in Brisbane, I offer DUTCH testing support through Femme Nutrition Australia including online sessions.
If you are located outside Brisbane (Melbourne, Sydney or regional areas) and are wanting a face to face consultation, you may wish to search for a practitioner closer to home through RN Labs or NutriPATH.
Other functional testing options may also be considered where appropriate, including microbiome and gastrointestinal testing, depending on your symptoms, history and goals.
You do not need to keep searching without direction. The right support should help you feel clearer, more informed and more confident in your next step.
What happens after the results?
DUTCH testing is not about getting a report and being left to work it out on your own. Once your results are available, I explain the findings in plain language and help you understand what may be contributing to your symptoms.
From there, your plan may include:
personalised nutrition plans
balanced lifestyle guidance
support for stress and energy patterns
strength and movement guidance where relevant
discussion of whether any further investigation or referral may be appropriate
The aim is to turn complex information into practical next steps that feel realistic and supportive.
Pricing and Transparency
The cost of DUTCH testing depends on the panel selected. This is an additional optional cost and is not covered by private health insurance.
I do not make a profit from DUTCH testing. The purpose of offering it is to provide access to a useful functional testing option when it is clinically appropriate.

Why Choose DUTCH Testing?
DUTCH testing is widely used when a more detailed view of hormone patterns is needed. It goes beyond standard blood testing alone by looking at hormone metabolites and patterns of hormone clearance across the day.
For the right person, this can add valuable insight into hormone related symptoms, stress physiology and the broader picture of hormonal health.
